Soda may be a popular drink, but you should be aware of how it can harm your teeth.

We're sure the majority of us know the negative health effects that soda has on our bodies, such as obesity and diabetes, but do you know what soda does to your mouth?

There are actually two things that make soda bad for your teeth. The first is the sugar content. Consuming sugar increases your chances of dental health issues like tooth decay and gum disease. Even though there are sugar-free sodas, there is still acid in these drinks that harm your tooth enamel. Kids and teens are the most at risk for forming tooth decay because their tooth enamel is not fully developed. To keep your mouth healthy and stay hydrated, the best option is water.

If you’re concerned about the health of your gums or have any questions, be sure to schedule an appointment with Dr. Parkes or Dr. Stewart.
