We know how important brushing and flossing are to the health of your teeth, but properly storing and caring for your toothbrush is something that is also an important part of proper dental hygiene.

Replacing your toothbrush
It is important to replace your toothbrush about every 3-4 months. Over time, the bristles begin to wear and do not clean your teeth as effectively.

Storing your toothbrush
After you brush your teeth, be sure to rinse it off completely and allow it to air-dry. If you place your toothbrush in a container or cover it, moisture can form, creating a good environment for microorganisms to grow on your toothbrush.

Don’t share your toothbrush
It is important to keep your toothbrush to yourself. Sharing your toothbrush can spread germs from person to person, increasing the chances of infections.

If you have any questions or concerns about the health of your gums, be sure to schedule an appointment with Dr. Parkes or Dr. Stewart in Jackson, MS.
