In our previous blog about oral cancer, we explored some of the ways that you can be tested. Now, we want to discuss with you some of the signs or symptoms associated with oral cancer.

The ADA has found that about 42,000 individuals each year are diagnosed with oral cancer. The best way of detecting oral cancer is through the screening options we discussed in our last blog. That being said, it is important that you know the signs of oral cancer as well.

Some things to look for include:

Teeth beginning to shift
Pain or soreness in your lips, tongue or mouth
Trouble talking, chewing or eating
Red or white patches in your mouth
Irritation in your throat or mouth that won’t go away

If these symptoms persist for longer than two weeks, you should schedule an appointment with your dentist as soon as you can. The dentist will be able to take a look at the issues and determine the next course of action if it is something serious.
